5 Steps to Get Your Ex Back
Relationships are intense, complicated and they never seem to follow any set of standard rules. Sometimes we find the person we know that we are meant to be with for the rest of our lives. And yet we lose them because we do something foolish.
If you have had a relationship that you feel fits into this category, you may be experiencing a strong desire to get your ex back. This can be accomplished, or at least you can make reconciliation much more likely by following these five steps.
1) Stay strong. One of the biggest mistakes people make after a recent breakup is to repeatedly call their ex and beg them to come back. You must be strong enough to resist this temptation and get on with your life. If you are not seen as clingy and dependent then there is a better chance that your ex will take that second look at you. They may once again see the same qualities that brought you together in the past.
2. Limit Communication. Sure, this is quite the opposite of what most relationship experts will tell you about maintaining a relationship. Communication is an extremely important ingredient for any happy relationship. However if you have just broken up the last thing you need is unlimited communication. Take some time out and give each other the personal space needed to cool off and regroup. You should avoid any opportunities to begin communicating with your ex right after a breakup because this will likely throw gasoline on the fire. Wait it out for as long as it takes until you can talk to each other calmly and rationally.
3) Flexibility is Important. If you and your ex have been living together, do not set a specific date for them to have their belongings removed. Do not even force them to leave the home that you share. A better suggestion is for the two of you to just spend some time apart thinking things over and getting control of your emotions. Rather than making demands perhaps you should try to actively listen to your ex and give them some real understanding. This thoughtful, respectful attitude can throw your ex off balance and is a good way to re-establish the lines of communication sooner. It is even possible that this step might be enough to trigger a quick reconciliation.
4) Get out. You should socialize and spend time doing things with other people. Go out with your friends and have a good time relaxing and enjoying the things that you usually do together. This will help you clear your head and your ex is more likely to reconsider a relationship with someone who she sees is behaving in a normal fashion. Observing you getting on with your life and having fun will create doubts in her mind that make her second guess the breakup.
5) Be who you are. Remember to always be true to yourself and be proud of who you are. While you might need to change a few minor bad habits, do not lose the essential qualities that make you unique. Your good qualities are what attracted your ex at the beginning and these same traits will attract her in the future.
